An article posted on the BBC Website this morning 25/12/18 about Huaweis kit being removed from the UK Emergency Services 4G Network.
I have always found the UKs use of Huaweis kit a puzzling question. I was pitched a job a few years ago working for Huawei in the UK, the role required DV Clearance because the role was closely linked to GCHQ. I have always wondered why the UK Government would use a Chinese company as a hardware supplier.
Then from the book Cyber Threat! How to manage the growing Cyber Risk of Cyber Attacks by N. MacDonnell Ulsch ISBN 978-1-118-83635-4 that I was reading yesterday the 24/12/18 there were various points made about Huawei and another company ZTE.

A second example of concerns about Huawei. I forget from which book, but I remember reading it and thinking that might come in use someday, I´m going to take a screen shot, and what do you know it came in useful this morning.

I think the author has some fair points, can you really ever trust a foreign company to have potential influence and control over aspects of our national security infrastructure?
Now the Book was published in 2014 and here were are 4 years later and UK is just catching up with the American point of view. This is also not the first book I have read that makes similar points of view about Huawei and whether they can be trusted to be considered a truly independent company or will they always be under the strictest Beijing influence.
